Measuring Success

The EdTech Center's assessment team works with you to develop methods to evaluate the effectiveness of your project; our usability lab tests the effectiveness with representatives from your target audience.

Web Statistics

One way of measuring success of your web site is to get a tally of how many people are actually using it and where they are going. The ATSWeb server offers web statistics to all sites which have a virtual domain. If you are interested in receiving web stats, please contact us for more information.

Usability Testing

Usability testing, a routine part of software design since the early 1980s, is relatively new to the web development field. EdTech's assessment team has designed a USABILITY TESTING SERVICE for web sites. The test's scoring system draws from Jakob Nielson's heuristics of usability and more than a decade's worth of research on UI and Human Factors analysis.

The usability test is organized into six sections: color, icons, consistency and standards, menus, forms/data entry, and error diagnoses and responses.

A composite score, written qualitative assessment and follow-up meeting are included in the testing process. Send email to Seth Merriam at s.merriam@neu.edu for information on how we can test your site.

If you'd like to test your own site, you can download our Do-It-Yourself Usability Test.

Accessibility Testing

As part of the USABILITY TESTING SERVICE, EdTech staff offer recommendations for making your site accessible to people with disabilities. Composite score, written qualitative assessment and follow-up meeting are included in the testing process.

Send email to Seth Merriam for information on how we can test your site.

If you'd like to test your own site, you can download our Do-It-Yourself Accessibility Test.
