Web Hosting

Web Hosting is available for eligible NU faculty, staff and student groups on the astweb server. The atsweb server is maintained by IS.

The atsweb server runs on four 2.8 GHz Xeon processors, 4 GB of system memory, and as much Network Attached Storage as is needed. It runs on a Linux operating system and the Apache webserver.

PHP and MySql are supported on the machine. For more detailed information regarding the web development environment, go to http://www.atsweb.neu.edu/info.

Accounts on the atsweb server offered free of charge. The following special conditions will require payment to an outside vendor:

Process Overview

  1. Determine if you are eligible for space on the atsweb server by reading our policy on eligibility.
  2. Develop your web materials. Training is available.
  3. Read the Web Publishing Agreement and fill out the online application.
  4. You will receive an e-mail confirmation of your application. You will also receive a username and password to access your directory on the server.
  5. SFTP or SCP your completed web documents to your directory on the server.
  6. To make your homepage accessible using your assigned URL, name your default (or top) page index.html, index.htm, welcome.html, welcome.htm, or default.html.
  7. View your page through a web browser.
