Blackboard
- How can I get help with Blackboard?
All technical questions concerning Blackboard should be directed to Northeastern's HELP Desk at 617-373-4357 (xHELP). You may also visit their website, www.help.neu.edu, or stop by the InfoCommons in 184 Snell Library. - How can I get training on Blackboard?
Information Services Customer Services (ISCS) offers a hands-on Introduction to Blackboard workshop. You may register by calling 617-373-5858 or online at www.help.neu.edu.Once you've taken the Introduction to Blackboard workshop, you may take more advanced workshops at the EdTech Center. See our workshops section for a listing of all EdTech workshops. The EdTech Center has also dedicated a section of their website to information for helping you plan, build, and manage a Blackboard course.
Academic Technology Services maintains a blog where Blackboard Tips for Faculty are posted monthly.
- Where do I login to Blackboard?
- Through the Northeastern Portal. Once you login, click on the Services & Links tab, and then click on Blackboard.
- Or by going to http://blackboard.neu.edu.
- How do I get a Blackboard account or a new course?
You may submit a request for a new account or course at http://www.ats.neu.edu/blackboard/requests/
Workshops
- Where are EdTech workshops held?
All EdTech workshops, unless otherwise noted, are held in 50 Dockser Hall. - Who can attend EdTech workshops?
All members of the Northeastern faculty and staff are eligible to participate in EdTech Center workshops. Students may sign up for workshops on the waiting list only. If there are seats available 2 days prior to the workshop, students will be notified via email. - Is there a registration fee?
All EdTech workshops are offered free of charge.

Web Development and Web Space
- How do I get a web site?
Northeastern departments, colleges, and academic groups are eligible to participate in the EdTech Center's customized template program. The EdTech Center also collaborates with Northeastern faculty and research groups to create custom web-based projects through grant funding. If you would like to work with the EdTech Center, please contact Alicia Russell at or 617.373.4584 to discuss your project.Workshops are also available through the EdTech Center to learn web-based technologies such as HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, and Flash if you would like to try your hand a building a website on your own.
- Does Northeastern offer web space?
Yes. Northeastern offers free webspace to full-time faculty and staff members on the ATSWeb server. The space may be used for publishing individual home pages, coursework, and home pages for colleges and departments. See our Web Hosting section for more information. - I just got webspace on ATSWeb. How do I put my files on the server?
You will need a Secure FTP program to upload your files. Please see our Software Suggestions page to determine which program best suits your needs, then see our Publishing Your Site page for detailed instructions on uploading your files.
