Workshop Description
Before adding online components to a traditional class, or developing a completely online course, you need to reconsider how to present course material for maximum effectiveness.
This workshop covers:
- reasons for bringing a course online
- pedagogical strategies in the online environment
- re-designing your syllabus
- developing learning activities for online presentation, and for different types of learner
- online communication tools and interactivity
- time management issues for the online instructor.
Prerequisites
These materials are written for instructors with little or no previous experience with online teaching.
Tools
A wide variety of software applications can be used to develop online course materials. These workshop materials do not include instructions on creating Web resources. Check the list of Workshops offered by the Ed Tech Center for focused instruction on using some of these applications.
Most of the material in this workshop can be applied to designing Blackboard online courses. See the Blackboard section of this website for more specific information on using this online course software.
