Policies
Please read through the following information regarding EdTech Center demonstrations before registering.
Participation:
All demonstrations are offered free of charge to members of the University.
- NU Faculty/Staff: All members of the Northeastern University faculty and staff are eligible to participate in EdTech Center demonstrations.
- NU Students: All Northeastern University students are eligible to sign up for demonstrations on the waiting list only. If there are seats available the day before the demonstration, students will be informed via email.
Prerequisites:
Before attending any of the Web Development and Multimedia demonstrations, you must be able to perform basic tasks on a computer (ie, if you can create a folder and save a file to it you're in good shape) and use a web browser (ie, Internet Explorer or Netscape).
Specific prerequisites are listed with individual demonstration descriptions. For the most part, knowledge of Basic HTML is required in order to move on to more advanced demonstrations.
Location:
The EdTech Center has moved into it's new, permanent space in the Snell Library. All demonstrations will be held in 215 SL unless otherwise noted.
Registration:
If you wish to attend a demonstration, you must register in advance.
- Waiting List: If a workshop is full you may register on the waiting list. As cancellations occur, those on the waiting list will be notified via email.
- Confirmations: Confirmations are sent via email within 24 hours of receipt of your registration.
- Reminders: You will be reminded of workshops for which you are registered via email and phone before the workshop takes place.
- Cancellations and No-Shows: If you do not plan to come to a workshop that you are registered for, you must cancel your registration at least 3 business days prior to the workshop so that those on the waiting list can be notified in a timely manner. You can cancel by calling the EdTech Center at x3157. If you do not show up for a workshop without canceling, your department may be charged a no-show fee or you may be prohibited from participating in future workshops for a full semester. If you miss a workshop due to an emergency, please contact us at your convenience so that we do not block you from registering for workshops during the following semester.
What to Bring:
You should bring your own notebook and writing instrument to class if you intend to take notes. Any associated materials will be provided by the instructor at class.
If you attend a hands-on workshop and wish to save your work, you must bring a disk to class (floppy, zip, or USB storage device). The EdTech Center does not supply them.
